Long term population estimates and projections 1950-2100
Work area(s)
This website contains population figures as well as derived indicators corresponding to population estimations and projections at the national level for the 20 Latin American countries and the region as a whole. This information is made available for the 1950-2100 period in Excel spreadsheet format.
These estimations and projection were prepared by CELADE-Population Division of ECLAC by means of the demographic components method, together or in consultation with national statistical institutes. These figures include updates of the urban and rural population from 1950 to 2050, extending the periods of estimation and projection.
The procedure used to produce these figures follows the usual methodology; however the observed trends were adjusted to yield a longer time span projection, even for countries that have not conducted a census during the 2010 decade. Future revisions will incorporate the new population estimates and projections arising from the most recent censuses and other sources, as they become available and their evaluation has been completed.
Estimations and projections for English-speaking Caribbean countries are prepared by the UN Population Division
