Subregional Headquarters, Port of Spain

The mission of the ECLAC subregional headquarters for the Caribbean is to deepen the understanding of the development challenges facing the Caribbean, and to contribute to solutions by conducting research and analysis and providing sound policy advice and technical assistance to Caribbean governments, focused on growth with equity and recognition of the subregion’s vulnerability.

  • Caribbean Regional Breakout Session at the ECOSOC Youth Forum 2026

    The Caribbean Regional Breakout Session will provide a space to present the results of the Caribbean youth regional preparatory consultations and local dialogues in the framework of the 15th ECOSOC Youth Forum and the 9th Forum of LAC Countries on Sustainable Development, providing an opportunity to promote and strengthen the dialogue with Member States and UN agencies, for a meaningful and inclusive children, youth and adolescent (CYA) participation in the acceleration of action towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. 
  • Virtual Expert Group Meeting on the Assessment of sargassum value chains in Caribbean Small Island Developing States

    The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), subregional headquarters for the Caribbean will convene an Expert Group Meeting to review the Assessment of sargassum value chains in Caribbean Small Island Developing States. This study examines the existing and possible value chain dynamics of Sargassum in the Caribbean SIDS using five case study countries, with the aim of identifying key gaps preventing upscaling of the industry and efficient management of sargassum influxes.  This study aims to provide a foundation and guidance for concrete sargassum management activities.
  • National capacity building workshop in statistical analysis - St Kitts and Nevis

    The overall objective of the national workshop is to strengthen the skills level of senior management and technical staff of the Government of the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis in statistical analysis. This will enhance their ability to design and implement data-informed policies and strategies, towards promoting national sustainable development and resilience building.
  • National capacity building workshop in strategic policy planning - Suriname

    The overall objective of the national workshop is to strengthen the skills level of senior officials and technical staff of the Government of Suriname in strategic policy planning. This will enhance national capacity in assessing development options and monitoring and evaluation, towards promoting national sustainable development and resilience building.
