Gender affairs
In the area of gender affairs, ECLAC aims to strengthen gender equality and women’s autonomy within the development strategies of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean. Through its Division for Gender Affairs, ECLAC provides advisory services to governments in the design and implementation of public policies with a gender perspective; promotes South-South and triangular cooperation; and fosters the production, dissemination and use of statistical information, diagnostics and analytical tools through the Gender Equality Observatory. In addition, ECLAC organizes the Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean, the foremost intergovernmental forum in the region since 1977 for advancing substantive equality and the care society, in fulfilment of regional and international agreements.

Diploma Superior en Medición de violencia por razón de género contra las mujeres y de femicidio-feminicidio
El Consejo Latinoamericano en Ciencias Sociales (CLACSO) y la División de Asuntos de Género de la Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe (CEPAL), con el apoyo del Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo (PNUD) y la Entidad de las Naciones Unidas para la Igualdad de Género y el Empoderamiento de las Mujeres (ONU Mujeres), invitan a participar del Diploma Superior en Medición de violencia por razón de género contra las mujeres y de femicidio-feminicidio.
XVI Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean
The sixteenth session of the Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean was held at the Centro Cultural Universitario Tlatelolco in Mexico City, from 12 to 15 August 2025, and focused on the political, economic, social, cultural and environmental transformations as a means of advancing the care society and gender equality.

La CEPAL realizó encuentro sobre la experiencia de Chile en el diseño e implementación del Sistema Nacional de Apoyos y Cuidados “Chile Cuida”
La instancia permitió examinar el proceso de diseño e implementación de “Chile Cuida”, los avances institucionales, la incorporación del enfoque territorial y el uso de la información estadística para la formulación de la política pública. También se relevó el aporte de Chile al debate regional para avanzar hacia la sociedad del cuidado.
