The impact of public funding for research and development on business performance in Mexico
This study evaluates the impact of financial incentives for corporate innovation on the performance of Mexican companies. It also analyses the priorities underlying the incentive programmes by constructing a profile of the types of firm that are the main recipients of this kind of support. Propensity score matching —in this case, matching based on the probability of receiving such support— of data from the 2017 Research and Technological Development Survey (ESIDET) is used for this purpose. Health system privatization, the pandemic and deprivatization under discussion
This article analyses the privatization processes that have been implemented in the health systems of Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Colombia. It describes and characterizes the participation of the public and private components of each of these systems, and analyses the politics of the public policies involved in these privatization processes. Lessons and challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic for household surveys in Latin America
As a consequence of mobility restrictions aimed at containing coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infections, several national statistical offices (NSOs) suspended the collection of household survey data and struggled to continue publishing indicators derived from this type of statistical operation. This note presents a summary of the strategies implemented to continue the production of employment, income and poverty statistics during the health emergency.
