The economies of the subregion were hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly those dependent on tourism. As a result, the Caribbean has seen a reversal of the hard-won gains achieved in growing their economies and reducing unemployment and inequality. War in Ukraine Quickens Inflation, Reduces Growth and Increases Poverty in Latin America and the Caribbean

The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) released a new policy brief today that analyzes the war in Ukraine’s economic and social effects on the region and provides recommendations to countries on how to address them.
