Expert Group Meeting: Statistical Disclosure Control for Caribbean Census Tables

10 de noviembre de 2020|Evento

Statistical disclosure control (SDC) is a topic of increasing interest to Caribbean statisticians and international development partners working in the subregion. ECLAC has carried out a study of statistical disclosure control methods for census tables which recommends select methods that could be applied to Caribbean census data.

There is an extensive literature which addresses the problem of statistical disclosure control (SDC) and a wide range of methods have been developed to help official statisticians to balance this trade-off between their prime objective—meeting the needs of their users for statistical information—while reducing to an acceptable minimum the risk of any breach of confidentiality.

ECLAC has carried out a study of statistical disclosure control methods for census tables which recommends select methods that could be applied to Caribbean census data. The initial focus on the Caribbean is partly a response to the particular disclosure issues faced by statisticians disseminating census data for small island states and territories. However, it is proposed that these methods are implemented in the REDATAM software in order to make them available, both to Caribbean statistical offices and to other REDATAM users in the region and beyond. The study, “Statistical disclosure control for Caribbean census tables” will be presented to an online expert group at this meeting.
