The fundamental purpose of the Regional workshop on the Integration of Statistical and Geospatial Information: from Dialogue to action, is to strengthen integration and contribute to progress in the joint construction of statistical and geospatial information systems at each country level, convening the regional statistical community represented by the national focal points (NSO) of the Statistical Conference of the Americas of ECLAC, and the regional geospatial community represented by the national focal points of UN-GGIM: Americas. This Regional workshop is held jointly with the Fifth session of the United Nations Regional Committee for Global Geospatial Information Management, UN-GGIM: Americas, within the framework of the 2018 version of the Latin American Geospatial Information Forum (LAGF 2018).

In a complementary manner, it seeks to share the diagnosis and agree on the strategies for the integration of geospatial and statistical information, and the use of geospatial information, statistics and Earth observation data to support the implementation of the 2030 Agenda in the Member States, at a national and regional level.

This activity is developed as part of the UN-Development Account Programme on Statistics and Data – Tranche 10.
