Located in Buenos Aires, the ECLAC office in Argentina was created in December 1973 by virtue of a cooperation agreement between the Office of the Executive Secretary of ECLAC and the Government of Argentina. The new office started work in 1974. In March 2002, senior cabinet members of the Office of the President of Argentina and the Deputy Executive Secretary of ECLAC signed a new Cooperation Agreement between the Commission and the Government of Argentina.

Regional Water Week for Latin America and the Caribbean – Santiago, Chile…
The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), together with the Conference of Ibero-American Water Directors and Authorities (CODIA) and the Government of Chile, through the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Borders and Boundaries Directorate (DIFROL), are convening the Latin America and Caribbean Regional Water Week – Santiago, Chile 2025, which will take place from October 6 to 10, 2025, at ECLAC headquarters in Santiago, Chile, in a hybrid format (both in-person and virtual). This edition is being promoted by the General Directorate of Water (DGA) in its role as interim president of CODIA, with the support of the Secretariat of the Water Convention (UNECE-UN).

Authorities from Latin America and the Caribbean Will Analyze the Challenges of International Cooperation in Shaping the New Regional and Global Context
The Second Session of the Regional Conference on South-South Cooperation in Latin America and the Caribbean will be held on June 17-18, 2025, bringing together representatives of the region’s countries, the United Nations system, and regional and international organizations.
La CEPAL capacitó a funcionarios provinciales de la Argentina en promoción de inversiones y exportaciones, en un programa organizado por CFI
En el marco de su cooperación con el Consejo Federal de Inversiones (CFI), la CEPAL dictó tres módulos en el Programa de Promoción de Inversiones y Exportaciones Provinciales, un curso dirigido a más de 80 funcionario/as de provincias argentinas. El primer módulo abordó herramientas conceptuales y analíticas para atraer Inversión Extranjera Directa (IED) que esté alineada con la transformación productiva de los territorios. El segundo se centró en el análisis del panorama actual del comercio internacional y en la provisión de herramientas para fortalecer la planificación estratégica de la inserción internacional de las provincias, considerando las oportunidades específicas de cada región. El tercer módulo se enfocó en la promoción comercial como política pública clave, con énfasis en el apoyo a PYMES mediante estrategias tradicionales y digitales, como ferias, marketing en redes sociales y optimización de sitios web, para facilitar su internacionalización. Esta iniciativa se enmarca en las actividades que la CEPAL impulsa para fortalecer las capacidades institucionales de los países y sus territorios en materia de desarrollo productivo y gobernanza económica.
