International Fair Trade Meeting in the Plurinational State of Bolivia

The International Fair Trade Meeting for the Andean countries was held from May 10 to 11th, 2017 in La Paz, Bolivia (P.S. of) on the theme "Fair Trade: an alliance for sustainable development". More than 40 Fair Trade producer organizations from the host country, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and the Dominican Republic participated, as well as representatives of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation for Agriculture (IICA), and the Bolivian Ministry of Productive Development and Plural Economy.
The main objective of the meeting was to show the impact of Fair Trade small producers' organizations on the public agenda related to sustainable development. During the meeting, the visions and actions implemented by fair trade coordinators in each country were presented. These approaches were also related to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agreed upon by all member States of the United Nations.
