Gender affairs
The Division for Gender Affairs plays an active role in gender mainstreaming within regional development in Latin America and the Caribbean. It works in close collaboration with the national machineries for the advancement of women in the region, civil society, the women’s movement, feminist organizations and public policymakers, including national statistics institutes.

XVI Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean
The sixteenth session of the Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean was held at the Centro Cultural Universitario Tlatelolco in Mexico City, from 12 to 15 August 2025, and focused on the political, economic, social, cultural and environmental transformations as a means of advancing the care society and gender equality.

La CEPAL destacó la importancia de las mediciones sobre uso del tiempo para avanzar hacia la Sociedad del Cuidado
En el marco de Seminario Internacional organizado por el Gobierno de Brasil “Contando las horas y midiendo los cuidados: metodologías y aplicaciones de las encuestas de uso del tiempo” la División de Asuntos de Género de la CEPAL participó en la mesa de diálogo "Encuestas de uso del tiempo, desigual división sexual del trabajo, políticas públicas y cuidados: lineamientos conceptuales".

El Compromiso de Tlatelolco subraya el aporte de las mujeres indígenas en la construcción de la sociedad del cuidado
En el evento “Mujeres indígenas y la sociedad de los cuidados”, realizado en el marco de la Primera Reunión del Grupo de Trabajo sobre la Implementación de la Declaración Americana sobre los Derechos de los Pueblos Indígenas (GT DADIN), Ana Güezmes, Directora de la División de Asuntos de Género de la Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe (CEPAL), destacó cómo el Compromiso de Tlatelolco reconoce que la propuesta de la sociedad del cuidado que aporta América Latina y el Caribe al mundo es un nuevo paradigma para el desarrollo sostenible, la igualdad y la paz, que prioriza la sostenibilidad de la vida y el cuidado de las personas y del planeta, reconoce los aportes históricos y actuales de las mujeres indígenas.
