In celebration of International Women’s Day (IWD) 2018, the City Hall of Port of Spain was transformed into a ‘Women’s City Village’ for one day, on Wednesday 7 March, as part of a week of activities showcasing women.
The day began with a power-walk around Woodford Square, as a show of solidarity and unity for the promotion of the rights of women and girls. The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) expressed its concern today over the persistence of gender-based violence against women and girls in the region and high rates of femicide, or feminicide.
