Located in Buenos Aires, the ECLAC office in Argentina was created in December 1973 by virtue of a cooperation agreement between the Office of the Executive Secretary of ECLAC and the Government of Argentina. The new office started work in 1974. The First Summit of the Americas took place in Miami, Florida December 9 to 11, 1994. The meeting produced a Declaration of Principles and a Plan of Action signed by all 34 Heads of State and Government in attendance.
