Li Keqiang, the Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, will give a keynote lecture on Monday, May 25, at the headquarters of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in Santiago, Chile, where he will be received by the Executive Secretary of the regional United Nations organization, Alicia Bárcena.

The United Nations Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights, Philip Alston, visited today the headquarters of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in Santiago, Chile, where he had meetings with various officials from the regional organization.
Alston, an Australian, was welcomed by ECLAC’s Deputy Executive Secretary, Antonio Prado, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, Alicia Bárcena. His agenda included meetings with ECLAC’s experts on poverty, inequality, education and social protection.

The flows of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) towards 16 Latin American and Caribbean countries declined 21% during the first half of the year compared to the same period of last year, to total 88,717 million dollars, the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) reported.

The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) will present on Thursday, December 17 its Preliminary Overview of the Economies of Latin America and the Caribbean 2015, in which it will provide the latest growth estimates for the region’s countries in 2015 and projections for next year.

The latest Maritime & Logistics Bulletin from the Infrastructure and Services Unit delivers preliminary data for 2014 on the evolution of world container trade and port throughput in the region.
