The flag of the Kingdom of Norway was raised for the first time today at the headquarters of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in Santiago, Chile during a ceremony that marked its incorporation as a Member State of this United Nations regional organization.

The Kingdom of Norway will join the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) as a member State during a ceremony to be held next Sunday 4th October at the commission’s headquarters in Santiago, Chile.
In the ceremony Norway’s flag will be raised for the first time in the yard which brings together all the banners of ECLAC’s member States. The event will be attended by Tone Skogen, Norwegian Undersecretary of Foreign Relations.

(April 30, 2015) The Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), Alicia Bárcena, ended today a four-day official visit to Cuba, where she met with senior authorities from that country and participated in a seminar on the economic development of Latin America and the Caribbean island.
Bárcena held a conversation with Cuban President Raúl Castro, in which she reaffirmed ECLAC’s full willingness to continue accompanying the country’s process to bring its economic model up to date. During the talk, she also acknowledged the achievements made in Cuba.…
