Las condiciones de competencia en las principales rutas de aerolíneas nacionales e internacionales, y los mercados domésticos en cada país del Istmo Centroamericano

En este estudio se aborda el sector del transporte aéreo de pasajeros y de carga en el Istmo Centroamericano, al igual que las normas legales e institucionales sobre competencia, que se aplican a este sector, a nivel nacional y subregional. Se desarrolla también un análisis tentativo sobre las capacidades institucionales y las visiones de los participantes de la industria en cada país de la subregión. En la primera parte del estudio se describen las características del sector a nivel mundial, y se presentan algunas conductas y prácticas comunes entre las empresas de aerolíneas que operan en este sector y que pueden incidir sobre las condiciones de competencia. En la segunda parte se detallan y se analiza el marco de concentración por rutas en pares de ciudades, tanto de transporte de pasajeros como de carga, a nivel subregional y extrarregional. La última sección contiene recomendaciones para desarrollar una política de competencia aplicada al transporte aéreo del Istmo Centroamericano. The conditions of competition in the main national and international airline routes and the domestic markets of the countries of the Central American Isthmus Abstract: This study examines the sector of airline transportation of passengers and cargo in the Central American Isthmus, specifically matters such as the legal and institutional norms that apply to this sector on a national and sub regional level. It also develops a tentative analysis of the institutional capacities and visions of the participants in the industries of each country of the sub region. The first part of the study describes the characteristics of the sector on a global level, as well as presents common and practical conduct between companies and airlines that operate in this sector and may coincide with the conditions of competition. The second part details and analyses the framework of concentration for airline routes by pairs of cities for passenger and cargo transport routes, on a sub-regional and extra-regional level. The last section contains recommendations for developing competition policies for air transports of the Central American Isthmus.
