Regional Policy Dialogue and Training Workshop: Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy in the Caribbean

This project, ‘Sustainable Energy in the Caribbean”, implemented by the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (UN-ECLAC), with support from GIZ is currently being implemented in the Caribbean Region.  The project seeks to engage countries and energy stakeholders in the Caribbean in strengthening their capacity for securing financing for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects, as well as enhancing the policy framework for the sustainable development of the energy sector. 

Among the key activities is support to three pilot countries (Dominica, Saint Lucia and Martinique), in developing country profiles of their energy sectors, and identifying financing options for the development of energy efficiency and renewable energy in these countries.  The project also seeks to promote EE and RE to other regional stakeholders, and to support the crafting of regional and national energy policy in order to achieve increased energy security. In order to achieve this, ECLAC as project implementer proposes the hosting of a Regional Energy Policy Dialogue and Training Workshop which will convene a range of stakeholders to share policy experiences on EE and RE, as well as to undertake preliminary training for senior technicians on feasibility analysis for EE and RE projects in the Caribbean.
