The event, co-hosted by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the European Union and the Development Centre of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), will enable a high-level discussion on the impact of COVID-19 in Latin America and the Caribbean and the role of regional integration and international partnerships for sustainable and inclusive recovery.
The pandemic hit LAC at a time when the region already faced significant structural challenges. The 2030 Sustainable Development Goals are at risk. The recovery should be seen as an opportunity to transform the development strategy of the region and rethink the social contract. The LEO 2021 aims to analyse and provide policy recommendations for a strong, inclusive, and sustainable recovery in the region. It brings forward the Development in Transition framework to foster regional integration and a new and more ambitious co-operation.
The LEO is a joint annual publication produced by the OECD Development Centre, ECLAC, the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) and the European Commission.
