The seminar is organized by the Government of Saint Lucia, the Saint Lucia National Trust and the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (UN ECLAC). The present workshop will seek to analyze how the Escazú Agreement contributes to the implementation of the environmental dimension of the 2030 Agenda in an effective and coherent manner in Guyana. To that end, it will specifically review key provisions of the Escazú Agreement and analyze national strengths, weaknesses and opportunities considering the current legislative and policy framework. It will also seek to identify gaps, needs and priorities and set the stage for national strategies and plans of action to more effectively implement the Escazú Agreement in the context of the environment…

The Escazú Agreement one of the four environmental treaties highlighted by the United Nations Secretary-General in 2019 in support of the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development. In the framework of the general debate of the seventy-fourth session of the General Assembly, a specific space will be devoted for authorities of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean to sign and/or ratify the Escazú Agreement at the highest level possible at 10 a.m. on 26 September 2019 in the Treaty Event Area (“Kuwaiti boat”) in the General Assembly building.…

La primera reunión de la Conferencia de las Partes tendrá lugar entre el 20 y 22 de abril de 2022 en la sede de la CEPAL en Santiago. En la misma se discutirán los temas a tratar establecidos en los artículos 14, 15 y 18 del Acuerdo y otros asuntos relevantes. Dadas las restricciones sanitarias en Chile y los aforos máximos permitidos debido al COVID-19, un número reducido de participantes podrá estar presente en la sala.
