The present workshop will seek to analyze how the Escazú Agreement contributes to the implementation of the environmental dimension of the 2030 Agenda in an effective and coherent manner in Guyana. To that end, it will specifically review key provisions of the Escazú Agreement and analyze national strengths, weaknesses and opportunities considering the current legislative and policy framework. The Escazú Agreement one of the four environmental treaties highlighted by the United Nations Secretary-General in 2019 in support of the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development. In the framework of the general debate of the seventy-fourth session of the General Assembly, a specific space will be devoted for authorities of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean to sign and/or ratify the Escazú Agreement at the highest level possible at 10 a.m. on 26 September 2019 in the Treaty Event Area (“Kuwaiti boat”) in the General Assembly building.…
El Acuerdo de Escazú es uno de los cuatro tratados ambientales destacados por el Secretario General de las Naciones Unidas en 2019 que contribuye a la promoción de la Agenda 2030 para el Desarrollo Sostenible. En el marco del debate general del septuagésimo cuarto período de sesiones de la Asamblea General, se dedicará un espacio para que autoridades de los países de América Latina y el Caribe al más alto nivel posible puedan firmar y/o ratificar el Acuerdo de Escazú a las 10:00 horas el 26 de septiembre de 2019 en el Treaty Event Area (“Kuwaiti boat”) en el edificio de la Asamblea General.…
