Colombia sobresale en Latinoamérica como un país de ciudades y regiones. Luego, gran parte de su fortaleza económica se basa en el desarrollo de distintas áreas metropolitanas. El trabajo asume el desarrollo como un proceso de cambio estructural, que ocurre de manera progresiva y escalonada, con luces y sombras en los diferentes ámbitos que lo constituyen.
