Parliamentary Caucus: The Escazú Agreement as a tool for climate governance and environmental democracy in Trinidad and Tobago

This Parliamentary Caucus will convene legislators from Trinidad and Tobago to discuss the Agreement as an effective tool for climate and environmental governance in Trinidad and Tobago, in line with the above. Participants will:
• Discuss the crucial role of parliamentarians in strengthening the access rights and protection of environmental human rights defenders.
• Explore innovative strategies to protect environmental human rights defenders and leverage the Escazú Agreement as a tool for climate governance and environmental democracy in Trinidad and Tobago.
• Develop a set of key recommendations for parliamentarians to strengthen the protection of human rights defenders and the three access rights to information, participation, and justice in environmental matters, in line with the Escazú Agreement.
