Citizen participation

En las últimas décadas los países se han ido dotando de marcos legales para el ejercicio efectivo del derecho de las personas a participar en las decisiones que afectan su calidad de vida y entorno. No obstante estos avances, persisten desafíos para institucionalizar nuevas formas de colaboración para la cocreación y la participación incidente, que permitan a la ciudadanía participar de manera activa en la política pública. La creciente desconfianza en las instituciones y el malestar ciudadano dan cuenta de la necesidad de que las democracias representativas se abran a mecanismos deliberativos que hagan posible la creación de confianza entre las estructuras gubernamentales y las sociedades de nuestra región. En este contexto, el ILPES desarrolla investigación aplicada, asistencia técnica, capacitación y fomenta el intercambio de experiencias y conocimiento para abordar las tensiones de las relaciones de poder atendiendo las desigualdades persistentes en la región y fomentando una participación incidente que permita mejorar las intervenciones del Estado y la creación de valor público.

HLPF 2025 Virtual Side EventWithin the framework of the High-Level Political Forum 2025, this side event organized by ECLAC will address the progress, challenges, and opportunities for accelerating the implementation of the 2030 Agenda in Latin America and the Caribbean during its final five years. Building on the momentum for the territorialization of the SDGs and the development of Voluntary Local Reviews (VLRs), concrete experiences will be analyzed and exchanges between local, national, and regional actors will be encouraged. In addition, the English version of ECLAC's virtual course on territorialization and VLRs will be officially launched.
