(29 September 2011) On Monday 3 October, the President of Panama, Ricardo Martinelli, will give a magisterial conference at the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) headquarters in Santiago, during his official visit to Chile.
The activity, organized by ECLAC and the Embassy of Panama in Chile, will be inaugurated at 3.30 p.m. by Alicia Bárcena, Executive Secretary of this regional commission of the United Nations.
The conference is entitled "Panama as a model of economic growth in the Latin American region and the challenge of decreasing poverty".
Martinelli was born in Panama City on 11 March 1952. He graduated in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing at Fayetteville State University, Arkansas, the United States of America, and he did a Master's degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Finance at the INCAE Business School in Costa Rica.
He became the President of Panama on 1 July 2009.
