Calculate to Eradicate: A Symposium On Statistics For Poverty Reduction In The Caribbean

The symposium will explore the different roles that data can play in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of interventions, and will include a particular focus on the need for better official statistics on poverty in the Caribbean, both multidimensional poverty and monetary poverty.

Caribbean Youth Dialogues 2024 in preparation of the ECOSOC Youth Forum

The Caribbean is home to more than 11 million youth between the ages of 15 and 29. These young people have a central role to play in achieving sustainable development in the region. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is an opportunity to galvanize action aimed at promoting greater inclusion of youth in all spheres. This roadmap recognizes in several of its goals the centrality of the full incorporation of youth as a necessary condition to move towards more egalitarian societies on a path of sustainable development. However, youth in the subregion face many challenges that need to be addressed in order to facilitate environments that enable them to reach their maximum potential to contribute to the achievement of SDGs by 2030, by leaving no one behind and a legacy for future youth generations.

Seminar on reconciliation of information sources for the measurement of income distribution

This seminar is held in hybrid format (in-person and virtual) on 12 October 2023, at the ECLAC headquarters. The construction of the household account, distributive accounts and measurement of inequality will be addressed, also incorporating information on the distribution of tax income.
