In the framework of these meetings, the fourth meeting of the Working Group of the Parties of the Kiev Protocol on pollutant release and transfer registers (PRTR) also took place.

ECLAC reported on the regional developments on PRTR and the discussions on this tool currently taking place in the negotiations on the regional agreement on access to information, public participation and access to justice in environmental matters (Principle 10).

To date, Chile and Mexico (OECD Member States) have fully operational registers. Honduras adopted its regulations in April 2015 and, together with Peru, is in its final implementation phase. A significant number of countries of the region are also at different evaluation and implementation levels.
