The ageing process in Latin America and the Caribbean is accelerating rapidly, becoming one of the most significant demographic trends in the region and worldwide. The sustained growth in the older adult population, together with increasing life expectancy, poses major challenges for public policy—particularly in areas such as social protection, health, care systems, and labor markets. At the same time, it offers valuable opportunities to foster more productive, inclusive, and sustainable development, grounded in healthy ageing and the full exercise of rights throughout the life course.
