 Jorge Mario Martínez Piva, Chief of Unit

Mr. Martínez Piva has worked extensively in themes of international trade and economic integration. As Chief of the International Trade and Industry Unit of the ECLAC Subregional Headquarters in Mexico, his work combines the themes of international trade, regional integration, and industrial policy, with an emphasis on value chains and related economic and social upgrading. After studying law at the University of Costa Rica, Mr. Martínez Piva went on to study his Masters in Economics at the Universidad Nacional (Costa Rica) and his doctorate in Economics at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Spain). Mr. Martínez Piva’s experience includes working for the Federation of Private Entities of Central America and Panama (FEDEPRICAP), the Organization of American States (OAS), as well as courses and conferences in academic centers such as the Universidad Nacional (Costa Rica), Universidad Estatal a Distancia (Costa Rica), Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Florida International University, Universidad de Puerto Rico, and the University of Turin.
