X Regional Webinar: "Experiences in the construction of environmental indicators for SDG 6"
The objective of the webinar was to show the different experiences in the development of environmental indicators for the Sustainable Development Goal of "Clean water and sanitation" in countries of the Latin America and the Caribbean. The webinar presented the work done with worldwide, as well as regionally and nationally metadata. The structure of the webinar had five sections where expert panelists presented on this topic and then a space for discussion and reflection was generated, considering the statistical challenges that appear in the development of SDG 6 indicators.
Rolando Ocampo, Director of the Statistics Division of ECLAC, welcomed the virtual event and Rayén Quiroga, Head of the Area of Environmental Statistics and Climate Change of ECLAC, oversaw presenting the webinar.
The first presentation "Integrated Monitoring of SDG 6" was provided by Kilian Christ of UNEP. The second intervention "State of the progress of the SDG 6 indicators: the situation in Latin America and the Caribbean" was carried out by Marina Gil of the Water and Energy Unit of the Natural Resources Division of ECLAC. The third panelist, Pauline Léonard, presented "Reminder of the global metadata of indicators 6.3.2 and 6.6.1: water quality and changes in ecosystems related to water". The fourth panelist, Roberto Cerón, from the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of El Salvador presented the "Information system on the water of indicator SDS 6.3.2 of El Salvador". And finally, the fifth presentation "Monitoring of SDG 6.3.2 and 6.6.1 Experiences in Brazil" was made by Marcus Fuckner of the Superintendence of Planning of Water Resources of Brazil.
