The Regional Council for Planning elects Presiding Officers, who meet regularly to review the progress of work and the fulfilment of agreements adopted with regard to training, technical cooperation and research, as well as diverse matters relating to the operation and administration of the Institute. The Presiding Officers serve as such until the following meeting of the Council, which then elects their successors for the next four-year period.

Yachay, the Knowledge City in the province of Imbabura (Ecuador), was the host two regional meetings on planning for development on 18-19 November, 2015.
The XIV Conference of Ministers and Heads of Planning of Latin America and the Caribbean was hold at the Inniapolis Entrepreneurship Center on November 18.
On November 19, the XV Meeting of the Regional Council for Planning, a subsidiary body of ECLAC, will take place at the Yachay Tech University.
