ECLAC’s Executive Secretary participated in an event entitled “Sharing Economic Benefits: Social Protection as a tool for Building Back Better after COVID-19,” held on the sidelines of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development 2020.
ECLAC’s Executive Secretary called on countries to promote an Environmental Big Push in the wake of COVID-19, where the economy, employment and sustainability go together, during an event organized by the OECD.
ECLAC released a new Special Report COVID-19, in which it offers proposals for confronting the effects of the crisis on businesses and production sectors. The organization estimates that 2.7 million companies will close, most of them microenterprises, which would entail the loss of 8.5 million jobs.
ECLAC launched its annual report, Fiscal Panorama of Latin America and the Caribbean 2020, in which it analyzes the region’s countries’ fiscal response to the human and economic crisis prompted by the coronavirus disease.
