The aims of the Social Development Division include assessment and analysis of the social situation of the population of Latin America and the Caribbean and examination of social policy management and impact. In this connection, one of the Division’s priorities is tracking and analysing the resources going to fund social policy and household spending on social services in the countries of the region.

Education can’t wait: Enabling conditions and investment for a better future in Latin America and the Caribbean
Be part of this event that brings together high authorities of the region to consolidate and mobilize a common position to ensure the enabling conditions and financing strategies that will allow for a sustainable transformation of public education, the achievement of the educational goals of the 2030 Agenda, and, with this, the advancement towards guaranteeing the human right to education for all.


International Expert Meeting "Towards the consolidation of a welfare state in Latin America and the Caribbean: the future of social protection in an era of uncertainty"
This virtual meeting aims to provide a space for reflection on the main challenges to move towards universal, comprehensive, sustainable and resilient social protection systems. At a time when the matrix of risks is being reconfigured, marked by high levels of uncertainty, social protection systems should be embedded in a welfare state that protects the rights and well-being of people. This event also seeks to promote a space for dialogue and exchange between the experience of Latin America and European countries to reflect on the future of social protection and the welfare states.
