Background

The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), World Bank (WB), and the independent non-profit KoboToolbox are collaborating to support Caribbean countries in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of poverty reduction programmes. Since 2023, the CDB has collaborated with regional and international organizations to commemorate the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty on 17th October each year.

In 2023, CDB, in conjunction with the African Development Bank and the World Bank, hosted a half-day webinar which focused on Applying Data and Innovation for Poverty Eradication. In 2024, the CDB, ECLAC, the World Bank and Kobo jointly organized a half-day symposium, in hybrid format, in Kingston, Jamaica. Thie event explored innovative approaches to data collection, management and analysis; and leveraged technology to enhance community empowerment. The 2024 event was hosted as part of a four-day capacity building workshop on data collection using the KoboToolbox software, which was led by the World Bank’s Geo-Enabling Initiative for Monitoring and Supervision (GEMS) and KoboToolbox teams.
