The Escazú Agreement one of the four environmental treaties highlighted by the United Nations Secretary-General in 2019 in support of the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development. In the framework of the general debate of the seventy-fourth session of the General Assembly, a specific space will be devoted for authorities of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean to sign and/or ratify the Escazú Agreement at the highest level possible at 10 a.m. on 26 September 2019 in the Treaty Event Area (“Kuwaiti boat”) in the General Assembly building.…

The side event will consider the need to integrate resilience-building into sustainable development planning and practice in the Caribbean, in light of the inescapable impact of climate change on the environmental, infrastructural, economic and social wellbeing of Caribbean states.
