The low economic growth experienced by Latin American and Caribbean countries in the last few years will continue affecting the region’s labour market performance in 2017. Employment Situation in Latin America and the Caribbean: The transition of young people from school to the labour market

In the first half of 2017 Latin American and Caribbean labour markets followed two main trends. On the one hand, as described in the first part of this report, the main indicators continued to deteriorate as a result of slack economic growth, as has been the case for several years. The empoyment rate continued to decrease, while the unemployment rate continued to rise.
