La CEPAL, con el apoyo de la Fundación W.K. Kellogg, ha identificado y analizado 4.800 experiencias de innovación social provenientes de América Latina y el Caribe, recogidas en cinco ciclos anuales de concurso. Tras visitarlas en el terreno y ser evaluadas por el Comité de Notables, se seleccionaron 25 ganadoras consideradas las más innovadoras y con mayor impacto en el desarrollo social de la región.
