UN-GGIM: Americas is launching the election process for its new Board of Directors for the 2025–2029 term. Member States of the region will elect the officers who will lead the Committee for the next four years.

The Presidency of UN-GGIM: Americas, on behalf of the Board of Directors, informs the Member States of the Regional Committee of United Nations on Global Geospatial Information Management for the Americas of the election process to appoint the new Board of Directors for the 2025–2029 term. This process reaffirms the commitment of the region to strengthen geospatial governance, foster collaboration among countries, and advance the global geospatial information agenda.

This process will be conducted in a transparent and public manner, in accordance with the Statutes of the Committee, with all information available on the UN-GGIM: Americas website.

The positions to be elected are the following:

• President
• Vice-President
• Executive Secretary*
• Vocal for North America
• Vocal for Central America
• Vocal for the Caribbean
• Vocal for South America
  (*) The country assuming the Presidency shall designate a person to serve as Executive Secretary of UN-GGIM: Americas.

The nomination period will take place from 15 to 29 August 2025 and will include different mechanisms depending on whether there is a single or multiple candidacies, ensuring the participation of all Member States.

Within the framework of the silent procedure initiated on September 8, 2025, for the election of the Board of Directors of the UN-GGIM: Americas for the 2025–2029 term, and following the deadline for the submission of objections, it is hereby reported that the process was concluded without comment. Consequently, the following seven nominees have been elected to serve on the new Board of Directors of UN-GGIM: Americas, with their mandate taking effect at the conclusion of the Twelfth Session of UN-GGIM: Americas, to be held in Santiago, Chile, from 5 to 7 November 2025.
