The website of the Third Session of the Regional Conference on Population and Development in Latin America and the Caribbean is now available

The meeting will be held in Lima, Peru, from 7 to 9 August 2018.

The purpose of the meeting, among others, is to examine the first regional draft report on the implementation of the Montevideo Consensus on Population and Development; to present national progress on the implementation of the Montevideo Consensus; and to consider a proposal for a virtual platform for the regional follow-up of the Montevideo Consensus. It is anticipated that all ECLAC member States, as well as representatives of the United Nations system and civil society will participate in the meeting.

Online registration will be enabled on June 18.

    The report was presented at the Legislative Assembly of Costa Rica by Simone Cecchini, Director of CELADE - Population Division of ECLAC, at the Hemispheric Interparliamentary Meeting "Migration in the Context of Socio-Environmental Challenges", held in San José, Costa Rica from October 23 to 25, 2024. The joint work, prepared within the framework of the memorandum of understanding between ECLAC and ParlAmericas, constitutes a brief guide for parliamentarians on international migration in Latin America and the Caribbean, from the perspective of inclusive migration governance.

    The First regional report on the implementation of the Montevideo Consensus on Population and Development is already available

    This report seeks to give an account of progress in the implementation of the priority measures of the Montevideo Consensus on Population and Development in the region, as well as the differences between countries in terms of the degree of implementation. By highlighting relevant national experiences, it also seeks to facilitate the exchange of good practices among countries so that they can benefit from each other in their efforts to advance the implementation of the actions of the Montevideo Consensus.
