Press Release
ECLAC’s Division of International Trade and Integration is pleased to announce the release of an updated version of its Map-based International Trade System (SIGCI). SIGCI, which is available in both English and Spanish, is an integrated platform that facilitates the analysis of bilateral trade flows and balances by countries, regional groupings, and products using both Harmonized System (HS) and Standard International Trade Classification (SITC) data. The updated system incorporates indices, maps, visual aids, and examples to support and deepen the analysis of trade data from the United Nations Comtrade Database. The Division hopes that SIGCI can contribute to the formulation of evidence-based policies and facilitate the ease with which trade research is performed. Due to its versatile design, the system permits use by not only the member countries of ECLAC, but also the members of other UN Regional Commissions (ESCAP, ECA, ESCWA and ECE).
Further information on measures that can be used in the analysis of trade data can be found in the Division’s Manual on Foreign Trade and Trade Policy, attached.
