Motherhood and adolescent fertility in the Caribbean

30 August 2016 | Briefing note

We are pleased to inform that the document "Trends in adolescent motherhood and fertility and related Inequalities in the Caribbean 1990-2010" is now available. This document was prepared by the Caribbean demographer Valerie Nam.

Taking advantage of a variety of sources, including MATERNILAC database, the research makes a detailed overview  and a very updated description of this key issue in order to fill a gap in knowledge and technical analysis of the subject for the Caribbean in particular.

The research has a demographic focus, but also offers a set of relevant policy conclusions for sexual and reproductive health services aimed to guarantee sexual and reproductive rights of adolescents, avoid teen pregnancy and reduce the inequalities of early reproduction.
