The Environmental Legal Clinics Alliance issues a public statement on the Escazú Agreement

In the framework of the 1st Regional Congress of Legal clinics “from the streets to the courts: the reality of clinical education in Latin America” organized by the Faculty of Law of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP), the first meeting of environmental legal clinics took place on 8 and 10 August 2019 with the participation of Faculties of Law of Universities in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile and Peru.

In the framework of the 1st Regional Congress of Legal clinics “from the streets to the courts: the reality of clinical education in Latin America” organized by the Faculty of Law of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP), the first meeting of environmental legal clinics took place on 8 and 10 August 2019 with the participation of Faculties of Law of Universities in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile and Peru.

As a result of such event, the Environmental Legal Clinics Alliance issued a statement in which it called on the States of Latin America and the Caribbean to sign and ratify the Escazú Agreement.

The Environmental Legal Clinics Alliance is composed of universities from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile and Peru, and has as its aim to foster legal education in defense of cases of public interest in environmental matters.
