20 August 2024|News

The biannual publication, which has been published for more than 50 years, is launched in June and December.

The Latin American and Caribbean Demographic Centre (CELADE)-Population Division of ECLAC invites researchers and experts to submit original and unpublished articles on empirical analysis, applied methodological procedures, theoretical developments and discussions, and analysis of public policies on population issues, to be included in the 120th and 121st issues of its journal Notas de Población, corresponding to June and December 2025, respectively.

Interested authors should send their article to CELADE-NotasDePoblacion@cepal.org, with a copy to María Ester Novoa at mariaester.novoa@cepal.org Editorial norms must be consulted in Guidelines for authors of Notas de Población.

Issue 118 of the journal was recently launched, corresponding to June 2024, and issue 119 will be published in December 2024. For issue 120, several articles are already in the process of being reviewed. Therefore, if you aspire to publish during 2025, it is suggested to send your manuscripts promptly.

Starting with issue 120, the journal's editorial team will implement several important new features that will be reported on the web page. Two of them are particularly relevant for authors interested in submitting manuscripts for this and the following issues: i) the transition to continuous publication, which will shorten publication times; ii) multilingual publication, enabling manuscripts submitted in English to be published in English, if the author so requests.

Notas de Población is a biannual publication that has been published for more than 50 years and is launched in the months of June and December. Its main purpose is to disseminate studies on the population of Latin American and Caribbean countries, although it also accepts contributions from other regions of the world. This publication is indexed in Citas Latinoamericanas en Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades (CLASE), in the Regional Online Information System for Scientific Journals of Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain and Portugal (LATINDEX), in the Advanced Document Search System (DIALNET), and in the Hispanic American Periodicals Index (HAPI). Work is currently underway to incorporate them into other indexes and repositories.

The pre-selection of articles is up to the Editorial team of the journal, for which it relies on its Editorial Committee, composed of some fifteen outstanding specialists of the region. Manuscripts that pass this pre-selection are subjected to double-blind evaluation by the journal's wide, committed and excellent panel of reviewers. In addition, the journal has the recognized editorial work of ECLAC's Publications and Documents Division, which contributes to the high quality, both substantive and formal, of its articles.
