ECLAC, in conjunction with the Embassies of Costa Rica and France in Chile, held a virtual event entitled “Regional Blue Talk: Latin America and the Caribbean On the Road to the Third United Nations Ocean Conference 2025.”

The document is the main outcome of the Regional Water Dialogues 2023, which concluded today at ECLAC’s headquarters in Santiago, Chile.

This high-level ministerial event will be held on February 1-3 and is part of the regional preparatory process for the UN 2023 Water Conference, which will take place in March in New York.

The new policy brief will be unveiled at a press conference next Tuesday, December 6, at ECLAC’s headquarters in Santiago, Chile.

The research seeks to contribute to strengthening public policies on natural gas in the North American country.

At a side event of the United Nations High-Level Political Forum, specialists addressed the opportunities in Latin America and the Caribbean for the integration of biodiversity, sustainable agriculture and transformative action.

"We urge our member countries to devote more resources to research, development and innovation, incentivize science and evidence-supported nature-based solutions and reward good agri-environmental practices,” ECLAC’s Executive Secretary Alicia Bárcena said.

ECLAC and FAO, in collaboration with other United Nations entities present in Latin America and the Caribbean, organized a regional dialogue prior to the Food Systems Summit 2021.
