Today the global population reaches 8 billion people, which is four times greater than what the world had in 1927. The 2022 revision of United Nations population estimates and projections shows that the population will reach 9 billion in 15 years and 10 billion by 2058. By mid-2016, the number of inhabitants in Latin America will rise to 625 million, more than six million above the estimated total population in mid-2015, according to the latest population projections made by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).
