Event

Teaser

To guide young people in Antigua & Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Lucia, Saint Kitts & Nevis, and Saint Vincent & the Grenadines into seeing tourism not as something that only large tour companies, hotels and cruise ships run, but as something they too can do, while placing them on a path to self-sustainability.

The workshops will show them how to:

  • Use their own culture, experiences, stories, and skills to develop a tour product.
  • Use digital tools, including AI, to create and market tours with little or no budget.
  • Build small businesses that are sustainable and very true to their respective country.

    2. Areas of Focus
Tourism Landscape & Opportunities (per country)
  • Antigua & Barbuda:
    • Sees 1M+ cruise arrivals annually, but most passengers stay in port.
    • There is room for youth-led walking tours, fort heritage, and village food walks.
  • Dominica:
    • Called “The Nature Island”. Hiking & eco-tourism are strong.
    • There may be opportunities for youth-led guides in Kalinago heritage and
      herbal medicine.
  • Grenada:
    • Tourism is rebounding (over 180,000 arrivals in 2023).
    • Known as the “Spice Island”, branding means that cocoa, nutmeg, and food
      experiences have growth potential.
  • Saint Lucia:
    • A very popular wedding & honeymoon destination (15–20% of arrivals).
    • Opportunities for youth may exist via the creation of small rum, fishing villages,
and music tours to tap into growing cultural demand.
  • Saint Kitts & Nevis:
    • Cruise arrivals: about 700,000.
    • There is a high demand for sugar heritage storytelling, rum-tasting, and walking
      tours.
  • Saint Vincent & the Grenadines:
    • This is a sailing/diving mecca. Visitors, however, seek local food, drumming, and
experiencing village life beyond the yachts
