The seminar is organized within the framework of the UN Development Account (10th Tranche) project on "Demographic transition: opportunities and challenges to achieve the SDGs in Latin America and the Caribbean", coordinated by CELADE-Population Division of ECLAC with the aim of enhancing capacities of the selected states to integrate population dynamics into their planning policies.

The main objective of this seminar is to discuss the economic implications of population ageing and its impacts on the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the opportunities and challenges in terms of public policymaking in Brazil and in Latin America and the Caribbean, emphasizing gender economic inequalities, based on the main findings of the National Transfer Accounts (NTA) and National Time Transfer Accounts (NTTA) study.

This seminar will feature the main results of the National Transfer Accounts (NTA) and National Time Transfer Accounts (NTTA) in Brazil and in other countries in the region, emphasizing the importance of understanding intergenerational transfers and population ageing for public policymaking in the areas of education, labor market, gender equality and fiscal adjustment.

This seminar is intended for a vast range of public, from policymakers and other representatives of governmental institutions to academia, NGOs, civil society, international organizations and others.
