Regional Integration for Economic Recovery

As part of the month of Development in Transition: Dialogues to chart new paths for Latin America and the Caribbean, ECLAC, together with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the European Commission, organized the Event: Regional Integration for Economic Recovery. The panel was attended by a group of high-level officials from international organisations and regional integration mechanisms in the Americas and the Caribbean.

The specialists who participated in the event made an urgent call to boost regional integration to achieve a transformative recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic. The seminar was moderated by Mario Castillo, Director of ECLAC's International Trade and Integration Division. The panelists were Rodolfo Ostolaza, Head of the Trade Statistics Unit of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD); Annalisa Primi, Head of the Transformation and Economic Development Division of the OECD; José Manuel Rueda Cantuche, Scientific Director of the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission; Mónica Martinez, Undersecretary for Cooperation, Technical Assistance and Support to Least Developed Countries of ALADI; Diego Caicedo, Director General of the Andean Community; Rodolfo Sabonge, Secretary General of the Association of Caribbean States; Melvin Redondo, Secretary General of SIECA; and Alberto Menghini, Head of Regional Cooperation of the Delegation of the European Union in Costa Rica.
