Fair trade is a movement of increasing importance globally and in Latin America and the Caribbean in particular. Its objective is to build chains of production, consumption and international trade that contribute to a more equitable distribution in economic, social and political terms. In addition, fair trade seeks to have a direct impact on public policies oriented towards sustainable development.
The objective of this seminar is to present and discuss two new reports on this topic: a Public Policy Report by CLAC and another one co-edited by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and CLAC on the contributions of fair trade to public policies oriented towards sustainable development in various countries in the region.
