Eleventh Session of UN-GGIM: Americas
The eleventh Session of the United Nations Regional Committee on Global Geospatial Information Management for the Americas (UN-GGIM: Americas), is being held in a hybrid format, with two virtual sessions on September 25 and 26, 2024, and one in-person session in Mexico City on October 7, 2024, at the headquarters of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) of Mexico.
On this occasion, progress in the execution of the work agenda of the Regional Committee will be reviewed, taking advantage of the opportunity to share experiences and good practices in the management of geospatial information. Initiatives and opportunities for cooperation between countries and at the regional level will also be examined.
Following the Eleventh Session of UN-GGIM: Americas, participants will be able to join the Seventh High-level Forum on United Nations Global Geospatial Information Management: Accelerating Implementation: Achieving Resilience, to be held between 8 and 10 October 2024. The Forum is organized by the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM) in collaboration with the Government of Mexico through INEGI, and will continue high-level discussions on global geospatial information management, promoting a comprehensive dialogue among Member States, international organizations and stakeholders.

Session 3: Evaluation of the work and functioning of the Regional Committee. Needs, challenges and priorities for 2025
10:10 to 13:00During this session, an evaluation of the work of the Regional Committee during the 2022-2024 period will be carried out, highlighting both the achievements and the gaps and weaknesses that need to be addressed in the short term. Additionally, a space will be provided for Member States to discuss this evaluation and present proposals and priorities for consideration in the 2025 work plan. Key discussion points will include: the work structure of the Regional Committee, the participation and inclusion of Member States, communication strategies, and the challenges and gaps that need to be addressed..
