In person side event organized in the framework of the Amazon Summit by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean and the United Nations Environment Programme, with the support of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).

The side event aims to show how the human rights framework is interconnected and applies to each of the five Summit pillars, demonstrating how rights-based environmental and climate action can be a catalyst for change. Discussions will also address current challenges in the Amazon rainforest, a region that requires transformative change, recognizing the deep interrelationship between humans and nature, and a holistic approach to sustainable development that ensures the ability of future generations to enjoy their human rights.
