In accordance to resolution 657 (XXXIII) from 2010, the main topic of the upcoming meeting of the Committee will be "Population, territory and sustainable development". The meeting will include 5 panels on priority issues in the framework of the main topic: a) Population, territory and sustainable development in the Caribbean; b) Investing in youth: Gaps in the universal access to sexual and reproductive health; c) Indigenous peoples, territory and sustainable development; d) Territory and public policies; and e) Population and rural development. It will also include a high level round table with government authorities from ECLAC member States and representatives of international organizations to discuss the prospects of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) Programme of Action beyond 2014 in Latin America and the Caribbean. In addition, reports will be presented on the Third Regional Intergovernmental Conference on Ageing (Madrid + 10) held in Costa Rica; the regional monitoring process of the ICPD Programme of Action (Cairo + 20); and the unfinished agenda of the fifth Millennium Development Goal (MDG).
Attention will also be paid on other priority issues highlighted in resolution 657 (XXXIII), and during the meeting, country delegations will have the opportunity to present progress so far and planned actions regarding the implementation of the ICPD - Programme of Action and the Brasilia Declaration, and their appreciation on the issues of "Population, territory and sustainable development" and the ICPD - Programme of Action beyond 2014.
